Eponext
Eponext® Epoxy Poly Sulfide Hybrid Resin (EPS)
High flexible, Impact resistance
Eponext® EPS series are a new generation of hybrid resins by medium viscosity, designed to provide a high degree of flexibility and impact resistance for a majority of floorings, coatings, composites, Adhesives and sealants applications.
Eponext® EPS is epoxy-terminated, medium viscosity poly sulfides. The introduction of epoxy-termination into the poly sulfide structure results in formation of a unique polymer which combines the excellent properties of Eponext poly sulfides with desirable features of epoxy-resin systems.
Eponext® EPS resins can be used in formulations together with other epoxy- resins to increase flexibility, adhesion, impact resistance, aging and weathering and to improve chemical resistance that some of them appropriated for unfilled systems.
Eponext ® EPS resins have been specifically developed for use in high performance coatings, sealants and adhesives formulations for both interior and exterior use.
All types are particularly well suited for heavy-duty surface applications on metal and concrete.
In addition, Eponext® EPS resins are cured with common epoxy amine hardeners.
There is no need to use curing agents containing heavy metals. They show unique self-repair and crack-bridging behavior.
Eponext® EPS resins can act as a high potential flexibilizer in classical Bisphenol A/F Epoxy-formulations.
Properties
Eponext® EPS resins present a number of special properties:
• Good adhesion on many materials
• Adjustable flexibility
• High impact resistance
• Chemical resistance to a number of diluted acids, alkalis and organic solvents
• Good wetting of pigments
• Excellent self-leveling
• Curing at ambient temperature
These hybrids can be cured with a wide range of curing agents
Curing of Eponext® EPS resins
As a rule, epoxydized polysulfide are formulated as two component systems and are cured at ambient temperature in the presence of a catalyst.
For example, component A could contain the Epoxy- or Eponext® EPS resins compound and component B could contain a compound with active hydrogen and a catalyst.
Preferred catalysts for curing Eponext® EPS resins are amines:
• Aliphatic amines
• Cycloaliphatic amines
• Amidoamines
• Aromatic amines
• Polyamides
